Anandoloy Rescue & Rehabilition Home for Boys

(Under Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015)

Anandoloy Home was opened in 1994 for child addicts and boys from extremely difficult circumstances who were roaming in and around Sealdah Station. Children who had been lost or abandoned or had run away from dysfunctional or abusive family situations. For survival they often gravitated towards the sub-culture of street life where exploitation, crime and gang rivalry are all too common.  The risk of addiction, trafficking and mistreatment was, and still is, high. Today, Anandoloy Home is registered under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2015. It continues to be a safe place for up to 25 of the most vulnerable boys in the 7 to 18 age group.

The strength of Anandaloy continues to be the boys themselves. Each generation embodies the “we will make it” attitude passed down from brother to brother. A family atmosphere of acceptance, accountability and responsibility provides a stable foundation which opens the doors to opportunities they could not have imagined. Non-formal and formal education and skills development tap latent talents and abilities and play a part in rewriting the story for a lost generation.
