About Us
Since 1985, Emmanuel Ministries Calcutta has supported marginalized communities in Kolkata. We provide education, healthcare, food, and social support to children and families living on the streets. Our programs empower mothers, equip youth with skills, and protect the rights of the vulnerable.
Mission
To build empowered communities where individuals and families unite to uplift one another, restore dignity, foster hope, and inspire lasting change through opportunity, compassion, and shared growth.
Vision
To empower Children in Street Situations (CISS), women, and families through education, healthcare, vocational training, and social support. We focus on prevention, intervention, and rehabilitation, restoring dignity and creating pathways for lasting change.
Focus Areas
We are dedicated to empowering vulnerable individuals and communities by creating opportunities for transformation and fostering long-term, sustainable change. Our focus areas provide holistic support for street-connected children, mothers, youth, and marginalised families.
We provide formal and non-formal education, offering tuition support, adult literacy programs, and scholarships for school fees, ensuring every child has access to quality education.
We provide hot meals, snacks, and grocery kits, with a focus on nutrition. Through partnerships like ICDS (Integrated Child Development Services), we support food, education, and health services for children under 6 and their mothers.
We offer healthcare services, medical assistance, and health awareness programs, promoting hygiene education to improve well-being and reduce disease in the communities we serve.
We provide vocational training to youth, equipping them with skills for sustainable employment. Our programs also empower women to create livelihoods and achieve financial independence through skill-building and income-generating activities.
Our Art for Wellness program encourages creative expression: dance, drawing, painting, singing, and drama, helping children and adolescents heal emotionally and express themselves.
In partnership with the government, we offer shelter for the urban homeless, providing a safe haven with meals, counselling, and rehabilitation services to help individuals rebuild their lives.
We support individuals overcoming substance abuse, exploitation, and neglect through tailored programs in juvenile recovery, child protection, and counselling, guiding them toward healing and reintegration.

Our Impact

Testimonials
I didn’t know much about the project at first, but one thing touched my heart right away: it genuinely cares for children like us.
Neha
I joined EMC at the age of 4. With their help, my elder brother and I enrolled in South Suburban Branch School. I went on to become the first girl in my family to complete Class 10 and Class 12. Beyond academics, EMC gave me opportunities to explore dance, singing, art, craft, and discipline.
Pampa
I told my school friends about the Ashar Kiron project. A few days later, two new students joined the project. I’m happy I could help more children get support.
Sultana Khatoon
Before, I went to school but learned nothing. My teachers at Ashar Kiron project guided my parents to transfer me. Now I’m in a better school and love learning again.

Just when I was about to give up, the Ramp Project gave me a reason to hope again. Their support made it possible for me to continue my education and believe in my future. I am now focused on my studies and committed to working hard, so I can make the most of this opportunity.
